About Kayak Black

Kayak Black is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Baltimore, Maryland, dedicated to expanding access to kayaking and outdoor recreation for Black and Brown communities.
We use kayaking as a tool for healing—creating safe, inclusive spaces where participants can disconnect from daily stressors, reconnect with themselves, and experience the restorative benefits of time on the water. Our programs address two critical gaps: limited access to mental health resources and limited access to outdoor recreation in underserved communities.
Through partnerships with local schools, community groups, and mental health organizations, Kayak Black provides accessible paddling sessions, wellness‑focused programming, and opportunities for participants to build confidence, reduce stress, and strengthen social support networks.
Kayak Black is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to kayaking and outdoor recreation for Black and Brown communities while promoting mental health, emotional wellness, and community connection through culturally affirming, nature‑based experiences.
